“This series called “Objects” is loosely inspired by John Baldessari, or rather his usage of dots on found fotos. I wanted to place somewhat unusual objects in areas that usually are of no interest to anyone, or places that are associated with secluded romanticism - lonesome woods, abandoned and unused areas near industrial sites etc. Those simple objects shall create a moment of disturbance, an uncanny yet absurd and funny situation.
I’m using simple geometrics (cubes, rectangles, circles…) or plain (spraypainted) plastic foil. I like those simple structures, maybe due to my background as a graphic designer, or my fascination with the aesthetics of minimal art. They also function as a counterweight to the highly textured areas I’m placing them into.
I’m planning to transfer those objects and “curtains” to more urban contexts now, let’s see what happens.”
